NEW: Spider Jam/JM4 Looper Tone Sharing
There is no provision to saves tones to SD card in a Spider Jam or JM4 Looper however, tones are saved with .JAM files if you have RECORDINGS SET TONE switched to ON in the SETTINGS/TONE menu. If you make a short recording (5 seconds seems to be the shortest possible) and save that to SD card, the tone settings for that loop will be reinstated when reloaded and can be saved as a custom preset tone. A neat way to get round the shortcoming.
Here's how to share your tones:-
- Make sure that RECORDINGS SET TONE is ON
- Turn the SONG/DRUM PLAYBACK level down to zero in the INPUTS/LEVEL menu
- Press and hold the UNDO button and select CLEAR ALL by pressing again. This gives you a blank track.
- Press REC and wait for the count-in 1, 2, 3, 4 ...
- Play for 5 seconds. It seems that recordings of less than 5 seconds can't be saved
- Press STOP
- Press SAVE and do SAVE RECORDING TO SD CARD
- Give the recording a short name to identify it eg ROC (three characters is usually enough at this stage)
- Remove the SD card and put it into your computer via a card reader
- Copy the track to your hard drive
- Rename the track using the 8.3 convention with capital letters eg ROCKTONE.JAM
- ZIP the file and rename it if necessary eg ROCKTONE.ZIP
ZIP files don't have to conform to the 8.3 convention
- Upload your tone at the Uploads page
- Give the tone details on the Tones Submission page
- I will check the submission and publish it as soon as I can
To use a downloaded tone:-
- Press the Download link at the bottom right of any tone setting
If there is no Download link it means that the submitter did not include a JAM file with their submission
- Locate the downloaded ZIP file and unzip it to get the .JAM file
- Copy the .JAM file to your SD card and put it into your Spider Jam or JM4 Looper
- Make sure that SONG SET TONE is switched to ON
- Load the .JAM file from you SD card through the DRUMS/SONG menu
- Press PLAY to check that the tone has loaded
- To save the tone, press SAVE and go to SAVE GUITAR TONE
- Choose a suitable slot to save the tone in the custom tone list
- Press the RIGHT arrow
- Give the tone a meaningful name
- Press the DOWN arrow to save it.
That's it!
